“Mindworks:  Fitness for the Brain”

Guest: Debi Dusold

Anchoring Points:

  1. MindWorks Studio has two distinct components: Emotional Balance involves different forms of biofeedback and Cognitive Vitality involves computer based exercises. Feedback is central to learning, knowing how we are doing in the world.

  1. Biofeedback helps with making changes in your life in general, like going through a divorce or job loss, being part of a directed personal or spiritual growth path, a weight loss program or recovery. Traumatic events, beliefs, habits and customs all create neurological pathways in the brain that can be unwound.

  1.  Biofeedback is learning to self regulate a very potent way to improve many aspects of our lives.  Some pathways are useful, healthy and efficient. Some are unhealthy. Suffering is correlated with going down these unhealthy pathways over and over. Humans and animals can learn to do it.

  1. Our nervous systems will naturally find the healthiest, most efficient function for circumstances given the right feedback. When we are able to let go of things that are inessential and inefficient, we are happy and peaceful. When we hold onto them we suffer. Neuro- feedback gives the brain the information necessary for the brain to engage its own healing wisdom and self-correct.

  1. A few therapists use neurofeedback in conjunction with their specialties for a wide variety of conditions: ADD/ADHD, post traumatic stress syndrome, head injury, anxiety, depression, addiction, to bring people out of coma.

  1. Conventional wisdom has it that after childhood the brain cannot change, and there is no ability to recover from brain injury or stroke, that cognitive decline is natural and inevitable.  Don’t believe it!  In the 1990’s research into neuroplasticity showed that it is possible to not only halt cognitive decline, but also reverse it.

  1. Peak performance training helps anyone who would like to excel in sports, academics or business. Pro golfers have a distinct neurological profile when they perform that amateurs do not. They know how to focus, when to focus and when to relax. We can train that signature.

  1. Through Cognitive Vitality programs, you can actually REVERSE memory loss, and many doctors do not know this! Older drivers who start to have problems driving can be helped by improving their visual processing speed.

MindWorks Studio works with people for stress relief, personal growth, peak performance and meditation enhancement. We have a lot more control over our inner world and our physiology than we know. Our bodies and brains will generally do what we tell them to do, if we can figure out how to tell them. Biofeedback is a way to tell them
